a. Provide the headline

“Score the Coolest Jobs in Just 3 Years with SCC’s Advertising Program!”

b. Provide an overview of the elements missing in the instructions required for this task.

  • What’s the action that we want students to take if they do read the article?
  • What’s the article going to cover?
  • In general, what is the goal we want to reach by creating this headline?

c. Explain the headline you created, why, and any other reasons/justifications you need to provide to me for the headline you created. (6 Marks)

I like this headline that I created because it goes straight to the point and tells students right away what they are going to get out of this program and also highlights how many years it takes. By adding the number it catches their attention easier, especially because this age group is a bit harder to reach because they scroll constantly and pass a lot of content that doesn’t get their attention at first glance. With the number added, I would have a bigger chance of getting their attention.

At first, I had “Score the best jobs” but this didn’t feel effective enough, especially for the audience were trying to reach so I changed “best” to “cool” because if a high school student reads anything to do with getting a “cool” job instead of a boring description of one, it will get them curious as to what these jobs are.

Adding the word “score” also makes it feel like an achievement which changes the perspective of the headline a lot then if I used “get” instead, there’s nothing exciting or motivating about that.

I also wanted to make sure the headline didn’t sound boring and formal because things like that don’t catch teenagers’ attention. Adding the exclamation mark to the headline also makes it sound intriguing and exciting to learn more about the program.
