I had a bit of a hard time trying to come up with the first part of the headline and an easier part with the second part because I knew right away that I wanted to add the number 2 into the headline to make it stand out a bit more because numbers naturally catch peoples eyes easier when they’re scanning content. Students might also feel a sense of excitement or nerves by seeing the number 2 because that means they are progressing and moving on to the next phase of the course.
For the phrase “Unleash Your Digital Skills”, I had to go through the slides again to find a word that is powerful and could resonate with this headline’s purpose. I wanted to pick something that could create a sense of motivation or excitement because by writing this, it’s speaking directly to the 1st year students because it has a personal pronoun in the title that makes it speak directly to them and makes it feel more important, and it also implements in the headline that they can “unleash” their digital skills, meaning that in 2nd year they are going to have the opportunity to implement the skills that they learned in 1st year which can create a positive feeling of the progress that they’ve made so far in their 1st year that is now going to be applied to enhance those skills even more.
Ending the headline with a question makes it super effective and creates a feeling of urgency that they now need to know if they are ready or not, some students might even feel fear when reading that because they might feel unready for 2nd year, so they might get a feeling of anxiety making them click the article even faster to see if talks about the 2nd year’s program details and requirements of knowledge. Imposing a question is a very effective tactic when writing headlines because it always leaves the reader wondering; it creates a cliffhanger for them.
