I think the most difficult part of rewriting my f-pattern to follow the 3 objectives for plain English writing was carefully balancing all of my details while keeping them simple and straight to the point. I wanted to explain everything, but I knew that too much text and information would overwhelm readers. Sometimes I have a really hard time not going into extra detail since I know so much about the services I offer, the benefits from them and the different options that are available to clients so it was hard to just keep it simple and straight to the point.
My original post was actually way too short and lacked details because back then, I thought that that was enough and that it was going to be effective for readers to fully understand important information about my business, but that was not the case when I went back and looked at it now. I wanted to add more information to my new post, but I also didn’t want to make it too long and overwhelming. Some descriptions in my last post were too vague, such as the service description, but if I added too much information, it wouldn’t follow the F-pattern technique. So keeping it engaging but still easy and quick to read was kind of tricky.
What I did to overcome this challenge was that instead of long explanations, I kept things short while still giving enough information for people to instantly understand what they were reading and what they were going to get out of using my business. I also added way more content with clear headings and bullet points because this broke up the large text paragraphs that I had in my original post, which made it way easier to scan my written information. I also focused on highlighting the benefits of what my business offers, not just listing what I offer, because I wanted to make sure that I clearly show why my business and my services are valuable.
